A Spooky Grove

Tucked away behind the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park lies one of my most favorite places in all of San Francisco.  It's a quiet, spooky little grove of short, gnarled trees that if you squint and use your imagination look somewhat menacing and tantalizing at the same time.  And there's never anybody else there - spooky, right?  In a city of a million people there's really never anyone else poking around, hanging out, nothing.  Take a look:

So I've been in a wee bit of a "mood" the past week or so but the minute I started strolling around here, in this oddly alien, green little oasis, my mood improved dramatically.   The trees look like botanical versions of wise old gnarled gnomes, whispering to me: Lighten up buck-o, stop taking it all so seriously.  Pretty soon it'll all be over and then what?  All you can look back on is being in a bad mood all the time?  Snap out of it.

And as I said earlier, my mood improved dramatically, the clouds parted and I saw blue skies again  (in my mind anyway...this is San Francisco after all, the fog had already rolled back in and the temp dropped to a quite cool 58...lol).  I know it's not always possible but if and when you ever get the smallest chance to break away for a little bit then GRAB IT, EMBRACE IT and get outside.  It's a truly magical antidote for what ails ya....

  1. When I come out to visit I want you to share this magical spooky grove with me! Just from the pictures it looks ethereal and haunting, yet peaceful and uplifting...as if those who take the time to explore off the beaten path are rewarded for their effort. It sparks the imagination and acts as a healing balm to discover secret treasures like this!!
