BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

SNOWSHOE PATH

You can see my snowshoe tracks in the snow, as I'm on my way to Chipmunk Hill, via mom's backyard...snow is so deep you can barely make out the fireplace!
SNOWBANKS IN MOM'S BACKYARD

This certainly brought back the "good ole days" of our childhood...making snow-angels, building snowforts and igloos, bombarding unsuspecting passing motorists with snowball volleys, ice skating on Johnson's pond, warming-up with mugs of hot cocoa and graham crackers!!  A real winter wonderland in the great Northeast!

MOM'S BACKYARD

I decided to spend my birthday weekend this year with the one who brought me into this world, so dear ole mom was the recipient of a surprise visit the eve of Friday, March 6!  I spent an idyllic restful weekend and snowshoed thru the backyard to one of our favorite stomping grounds as kids, "Chipmunk Hill"!  Above is pic of mom's backyard, with her blessed mother grotto just peeking out of the snowdrifts.

BRYANT  PARK  ICE  SCULPTURE

Bryant Park in winter, showcasing Mother Nature's ice sculpture which she
cleverly fashioned from the fountain in the park!!   Taken while on a walk
in mid-February...

THE ZAMBONI IN BRYANT PARK

Next time I'll bring my ice skates to enjoy the winter wonderland of the
skating rink in the middle of the park!

Spring Is Just Around the Corner

Have faith dear Sister...as our spiritual guide Eckhart Tolle always reminds us: that which begins always ceases. Pretty soon the snow will melt and disappear, the temperature will rise and the gentle breezes will blow. Then all the signs of Spring will begin to appear and we can go for long walks and bike rides (during the upcoming Mother's Day Extravaganza) and recite amazingly beautiful poems like this gem by William Wordsworth:

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud by William Wordsworth
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Oh The Weather Outside Is......DELIGHTFUL!

I guess the East Coast contingent is still stuck in a snowbank somewhere. Or maybe she's carved out her own little secret snow fort in one of the huge snowbanks left behind by the snowplows (unrelated question: does Bob still drive one of those when the weather becomes frightful???) at the foot of the driveway. Lord only knows!

Anyways, I decided to post yet another relatively lame entry in the hopes it will guilt dear Jodi into FINALLY POSTING SOMETHING ABOUT THE ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA TAKING PLACE BACK EAST...

And remember, I'm not trying to rub salt in the wounds (you need it to throw down on the icy roads!) or anything but here goes:  On Friday, when I went for my 2 week check up and dressing change for my poor old now-bunionless foot I waited in my Doctor's outdoors waiting area.

It was yet another absolutely glorious San Francisco day: 72 degrees, abundant sunshine, gentle breezes and the bluest sky ever. Don't be a hater...and enjoy the pics:
